The Girls of MMA

August 19, 2008 at 7:23 pm (Uncategorized)

Another one of my highlights that will likely be ignored haha! I know the market for women’s MMA is pretty limited, but I’m a fan and I like to make highlights that celebrate fighters who aren’t as well known and such. I’m not an expert on the state of female MMA, so my knowledge is pretty limited – as are the videos available on the net in good quality. I just wanted to try some new things, use this song and have some fun after spending so much time on The Mixed Martial Arts. Hopefully you guys dig it!

The Mixed Martial Arts

August 6, 2008 at 6:15 pm (Uncategorized)

A video showing the progression of this sport, starting with Bruce Lee and the movie inspirations of what martial arts are – then through the early days of the UFC until our current athletes. The whole video was done in Adobe After Effects then pieced together in Sony Vegas. This was my first video where every frame was ran through After Effects. Probably my favorite video right this second and I entered it into the Punch Drunk Gamer HL competition – though I’m not expecting to win; too many great videos!

Smokin’ Joe Villasenor

August 6, 2008 at 6:12 pm (Uncategorized)

Another highlight for a fighter I really like and respect. Villasenor is making waves now with EliteXC, but he has been around for a while. A great and exciting fighter, Joe lays it down every time. I sent the highlight to him over myspace and he actually put it up in his profile! A very cool guy and I think this highlight turned out very cool. My first time playing around with the whole “black and white except for one color” effect.

What it Takes

August 6, 2008 at 6:09 pm (Uncategorized)

This video I almost gave up on it. When I posted the link up at sherdog I got no responses, then in the highlight topic it seemed to get nothing nice said about it. The music used is a little different than most highlights, but I went with what I felt was right for the vibe. Thanks to the people over at mmaplayground and machinemen (who posts all of my highlights on his spanish only forums) I found that there were others who enjoyed it as well – and views-wise it has turned into one of my most popular surprisingly. I am now not ashamed to say I am proud of this video, haha!

Mayhem: Join My Cult

August 6, 2008 at 6:06 pm (Uncategorized)

Mayhem is pretty much everyone’s hero right? If not, you’re looking in all the wrong places. Mayhem is indeed where it’s at. I made all the cool little intro stuff with After Effects, then compiled all the footage in Sony Vegas as per usual. I sent the video to Jason over myspace after I finished it and he really liked it. Made all the work worth it!

The Birth of A Sport

August 6, 2008 at 6:03 pm (Uncategorized)

After my Sakuraba highlight actually turned out to be such a hit, I thought I would keep in the oldschool realm of things.  I have always wanted to do a highlight that really encompasses the progression this sport has made from its inception and this video started off as that. However, once I got started I found Royce Gracie becoming the center of attention more and more. So that’s how it ended up really. I really love the pace of this one, and it was also my first real attempt at creating special FX in Adobe After Effects.
